Crafting a landing page, not to mention a complete website, typically demands extensive time, financial resources, and the involvement of numerous experts across different domains.

Thankfully, platforms like Leadpages simplify this process by providing user-friendly interfaces that allow for the creation of web pages without the need for technical know-how.

With years of experience as a web developer, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with numerous service providers. Utilizing this background, I’ll lead you through a detailed review of Lead-pages, exploring its functionality, features, pricing, alternatives, and more.

What Is Leadpages?

Leadpages, a landing page tool, was established in 2010 and later acquired by Redbrick in 2024, a company that holds a portfolio of digital technology assets.

In addition to creating new landing pages, the platform offers resources for constructing websites, engaging with audiences, and finalizing sales.

How Leadpages Operates: A Comprehensive Overview

Leadpages operates using a simple drag-and-drop function and a library of more than 200 templates, enabling rapid creation of landing pages. Additionally, it offers tools and integrations for setting up and monitoring alert bars, pop-ups, and A/B tests, as well as reaching potential customers through text, email, and social media with ease.

Features Offered by Leadpages

I conducted a thorough examination of Leadpages, uncovering nine features that assist users in crafting compelling landing pages and engaging with their clientele.

1

Drag And Drop Builder

Utilizing a drag-and-drop builder, the page builder enables customization of your landing page or any of Lead-pages’ templates. The right side of the interface displays a preview of the page, while the left side offers various options, including:

  • Page layout: to build your page’s basic grid layout in terms of rows and columns
  • Widgets: building blocks of the page, including elements such as opt-in forms and buttons
  • Page tracking: tracking and analytics code as well as basic SEO settings — like meta title
  • Page styles: including customization options such as fonts, background images, etc.

Yet, the drag-and-drop editor has a flaw, as it lacks precision. I found it challenging to position elements precisely where I intended them to be.

2

Hosted Landing Pages

While hosting is not highlighted as one of Leadpages’ strengths, you do have the option to have the company host your landing page.

The landing page builder also allows you to download the HTML codes for your pages, enabling you to host them through your current host’s cPanel if you already have one.

3

Leadpages Templates

Leadpages offers more than 200 landing page templates, although many have only minor differences. Nonetheless, their mobile responsiveness is beneficial.

These templates are available in two forms: standard and drag-and-drop. While standard templates offer fewer customization options, they are easier and quicker to use. I was able to click and edit my details in about five minutes.

4

Alert Bars

Leadpages’ Alert Bars function similarly to pop-ups but with minimal interruption to the user experience. They are mobile-friendly and unobtrusive, enabling you to add CTAs to pages without consuming excessive screen space.

Setting them up is straightforward. No coding or plugins are required, and the platform provides step-by-step guidance, including theme, color, and text selection.

5

Pop-Ups

Leadpages pop-ups, also known as Leadboxes, commandeer the user’s screen, grabbing their attention with offers and conversion prompts. While they can be annoying to visitors, they can be useful in capturing leads that might otherwise be lost.

6

Website Integrations

The pages and conversion elements you create through Lead-pages allow for about 40 integrations, including the following categories: Analytics tools, CRM, Email marketinng, Live Chat, Payments, Video, Scheduling Tools, Webinars, and A/B Testing.

A/B testing provides a rapid method to deploy variations of your landing page templates and assess the performance of different elements.

This feature allows you to evaluate the impact of various wordings, buttons, color schemes, or even the entire design. Since it is an advanced and time-consuming feature, I suggest using it only if your site attracts significant traffic.

7

LeadDigits

LeadDigits, an SMS tool, facilitates communication with prospects through text messages. This specialized feature allows you to share compelling information or opt-in prompts with your customers and prospects.

LeadDigits is ideal for situations where you can collect visitor phone numbers. SMS messages typically yield higher response rates compared to emails.

8

An Overview of LeadLinks

LeadLinks functions similarly to LeadDigits but is designed for email marketing purposes. It offers time-saving capabilities such as automatically registering customers for webinars or sublists with a single click.

Additionally, this feature enables you to categorize subscribers and send email blasts to specific groups.

Leadpages Benefits

9

GreenShift – Page-Building Gutenberg Blocks

The platform is easy for beginners to use, featuring a user-friendly interface and ample learning resources.

I particularly value the drag-and-drop function in the editor, which has become an industry standard.

10

Integrations

With over 40 integrations, the platform offers more than enough for any single website’s needs. This breadth of integrations ensures that the platform can support most, if not all, of the tools you currently use or may adopt in the future, allowing your web pages and services to evolve.

11

Numerous templates

While legacy website builders such as Wix may offer more templates and tools, Lead-pages’ selection of 200+ templates is substantial.

Through the free templates and additional paid options, the platform offers nearly every page layout imaginable.

Pros
  • Easy to use control page
  • Adequate features and tools

Leadpages Downsides

Leadpages’ website builder is slow, expensive, and lacks customization options for standard templates.

12

Costly

Leadpages lost ground to its competitors primarily due to its high starting price of $49 per month.

Even with an annual payment plan, the price only drops to $37 per month, which remains relatively high.

13

Faulty Website Builder

The drag-and-drop templates are slow, and many widget boundaries are slightly misaligned. Elements often snap into incorrect positions, and deleting them leaves unfilled spaces. While this issue won’t ruin your campaigns, it can be frustrating to deal with.

14

Uncustomizable Standard Templates

While there is a large variety of standard templates available, they are quite similar in appearance and lack customization options. To achieve more personalized designs, users must resort to using the challenging drag-and-drop tool. Moreover, the most attractive “premium” templates come with an additional fee.

15

No Responsive Design

Lead-pages focuses on creating mobile-friendly landing pages and provides a responsive preview. However, it does not offer control over the appearance of elements in the responsive version.

16

 Scammy Free Trial

The 14-day free trial offered by this landing page creator can become problematic if you forget to cancel the subscription before it ends. In such cases, the company will continue to charge your credit card and does not provide refunds.

How To Use LeadPages?

To begin using Lead-pages, start with a simple signup process that requires an email account and payment information. Once you’ve signed up, log into your account and choose a template for your landing page or use a blank canvas with the drag-and-drop tool. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Create an account using your email address and password, or use a connected Google account. You’ll need to select a pricing plan first.
  2. Set up a payment method, either a card or PayPal account.
  3. Start your free trial by creating a landing page. Click “Create New Leadpages” at the top right corner of your dashboard.
  4. Choose your preferred template from the standard options and customize it using the drag-and-drop editor.
  5. Publish the page directly by clicking “Publish” or install a WordPress plugin to publish the landing page on a different host.
  6. Explore other Leadpages features mentioned in this review.

Leadpages Pricing

Leadpages offers two pricing plans: Standard and Pro.

Standard Plan

When billed annually, this plan costs $37 per month, totaling $144 per year. It includes the following:

  • 1 site
  • landing pages Pop-Ups
  • unlimited traffic & leads
  • free custom domain and hosting
  • tech support via chat and email
  • mobile responsive templates
  • lead notifications
  • 40+ standard integrations
  • a 1-on-1 quick start call

Pro Plan

Paying annually for this plan amounts to $74 per month or $300 per year. It encompasses all attributes of the standard plan and adds several advanced features, including:

  • 3 sites
  • Online sales and payments
  • Unlimited A/B split testing
  • Priority tech support via phone, chat, and email

However, Leadpages does not offer advanced integrations or the option for up to 5 Pro sub-accounts. For these features, you will need to contact the company directly.

Leadpages User Reviews

I’m a new member of Leadpages and have been watching some of the pre-recorded webinars conducted by Mr. Bob. I’m impressed with the level of detail he provides about the different functionalities and applications. Keep up the good work.

– Hector Torres, TrustPilot

In the past, I’ve tried many different websites, landing pages, and online subscription-based services. This is the first time I haven’t received a refund for not canceling my subscription before the 14-day trial period ended. It’s particularly frustrating because I only used it for less than a day and realized that Leadpages.com didn’t offer the features I was looking for.

Leadpages Alternatives

When comparing Leadpages to three competitors—Instapage, Unbounce, and OptimizePress—this is how they stack up against each other.

Leadpages Vs. Instapage

Instapage caters to enterprise-level clients, whereas Leadpages is aimed at small businesses.

Interestingly, Instapage offers over 200 templates, split testing, numerous integrations, and a drag-and-drop editor, similar to Leadpages.

The main differences between the two lie in their pricing and the features offered in each plan. For instance, Instapage includes unlimited A/B testing in its basic plan, a feature not available in Leadpages.

Additionally, Instapage provides a heat mapping tool, which Leadpages offers only through integrations. This gives Instapage an advantage in this aspect.

Leadpages Vs. Unbounce

Unbounce, a Canadian software company, specializes in helping users create landing pages. It is as user-friendly as Leadpages.

Furthermore, Unbounce provides A/B testing, customizable templates, integrations, heat maps, mobile responsive design, and drag-and-drop functions, which I found to be superior to those of Leadpages.

However, when considering pricing, Leadpages emerges as a strong alternative to Unbounce. Leadpages also offers more templates than Unbounce, but this alone is not sufficient to declare Leadpages the superior option.

Leadpages Vs. OptimizePress

OptimizePress is a landing page builder that specializes in WordPress sites. It has over 100 templates and supports A/B tests, mail integration, and mobile optimization.

OptimizePress offers fewer tools, templates, and integrations compared to Leadpages. However, it comes at a lower price point and effectively serves its target audiencewhich includes freelancers and small businesses.

Is Leadpages a Good Investment?

Leadpages offers a well-rounded selection of tools and integrations at a reasonable price, though some may argue that comparable tools are available at similar price points.

The platform is user-friendly, making it suitable for both beginners and professionals looking to establish a strong online presence.

If you’re seeking an uncomplicated way to create a standout landing page, Leadpages is definitely worth exploring.
